March 2015 Update

Dear Scott,
One of all all time favorite pastors, teachers, authors is Chuck Swindoll. I find his teachings encouraging and inspiring. This is one of my favorite quotes from him, "Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it." My personal hope and goal of 2015 is to respond with grace as often as possible no matter what happens to me.

As you know we have been blessed with the opportunity to work with Frank McKinney's Caring House Foundation. With the Foundations support we have built 4 communities. A total of 170 homes, 4 community center/churches, provided clean water, livestock, lighting, and hope to hundreds in Haiti.

Please take 4 minutes and watch this video of our current project. It is in a place called Tante Jeanne, Haiti and I think now for the first time it can actually be called a town.

I can't describe the joy that it gives our team to create such a beautiful village out of barren, dry land. It is our hope to continue to partner with Frank's Caring House for many years to come.

Let me share with you a couple of quotes from Frank that have inspired me these past few years.

"Compassion without action is a waste of emotion." I find so much truth in that statement.... at some point as we are moved with compassion we need to act, do something with that feeling, to make a difference.

I think it is why I always come back to our Ten For Them program. For only $10 a month you can alter the life course of a child in Haiti. I will provide the link again so you can be reminded of this our latest effort. We have set the bar so LOW that anyone IF SO inclined to help, can actually help.

Sponsor one, two, five, or ten children.

As I close let me share with you one more of Frank's quotes.

"Inspiration washes off in the shower, motivation fades like the effects of a sunburn, but ASPIRATION can alter your DNA."

How true,  we hear a nice talk or become touched by an article we read, or TV news story and for a moment are inspired, but then what do we do....

Sometimes we get motivated and work our selves up with good intentions... that has a way of fading also.... (think of diet, exercise, etc etc)

BUT if we move into aspiration: A hope or ambition of achieving something and then we stay there.... world change is possible.

I personally aspire to bring hope to as many people as possible in Haiti. To feed more children, care for more orphans,  provide employment opportunities for more Haitians and to give them a sense of pride so that they aspire to a new Haiti and a new day of hope and joy.

None of our efforts would be possible without your prayers, encouragement, and financial gifts. Here is a quick breakdown of our 2014 efforts.

In 2014 $0.92.3 % of every dollar donated went directly to the provide hope to the least of these in Haiti.

Many have been supporting our efforts with a monthly gift and I thank you. Perhaps you are in a position where you can increase your monthly gift?

If you are able to make a contribution now - I encourage you to do so, through our website www.hopetohaiti.com or snail mail.
